Community Programs supported by Central Saanich 

Central Saanich has a number of agreements in place with local organization’s delivering projects or programs directly benefiting the well-being of Central Saanich residents and supporting the fundamental principles of the OCP and Council’s Strategic Plan.  

For 2024-2027 these include:

CSAN Kitchen 
Run by BGC Southern Vancouver Island, at the Brentwood Bay location. The program offers 10 youth cooking lessons and utilizes healthy, local foods in the recipes. The meals are shared with their families. This program is proving popular and has a waitlist. It runs multiple times a year.

Music in the Park
Music in the Park runs Wednesday nights for 7 weeks in July and August from 6:30-8:30 in HEL,HILEȻ Park in Brentwood Bay. This all ages event is fun for everyone. Bring a lawn chair and a picnic dinner or check out the food vendors. Organized by the Brentwood Community Association, all shows are free, but please consider buying a 50/50 ticket at the event to help support these concerts.

Brentwood Bay Festival 
The Brentwood Bay Festival is an annual event in early June with all kinds of fun for the community. From a Lions pancake breakfast, to the parade, stage entertainment and vendors throughout HEL,HILEȻ Park in Brentwood Bay. Movie in the Park 
Saanichton Village Association hosts free outdoor movie events each summer for the community. Bring your blankets and chairs, family and friends, and some cash if you’d like to buy food on site. Saanichton Community Christmas 
This family event is hosted by the Saanichton Village Association and helps raise much-needed funds and food for families in need each holiday season.  
The event includes private carriage ride through Saanichton Village, pancake breakfast by the Lions and photos with Santa, Christmas cookie decorating kits, a scavenger hunt and more! Saanichton Spaghetti Dinner 
The Spaghetti Supper is an event that the Saanichton Village Association hosts at St. Mary’s Church. It’s intended to help neighbours meet, visit and enjoy each others’ company. Tickets include supper and live music. 

Capital Bike cycling education for school children 
Sponsored by the District of Central Saanich, Capital Bike works with local school boards to deliver i cycling education for students in Grade 4-7 wherein the student gain confidence in route planning and on-road riding. 

Capital Bike guided community rides for the public 
Capital Bike works with the District to organize six guided community rides each year to help residents gain bike skills, such as navigating roads, and get comfortable on popular routes in Central Saanich. ArtSea Gallery, events and programs 
ArtSea Community Arts Council is a charitable organization that works to ignite interest and appreciation for all forms of the arts and cultural activities on the Saanich Peninsula. In addition to the Gallery, located at Tulista Park in Sidney, programs include Studio Tours, the Lantern Festival and much more. 

Better at Home program, delivered by Beacon Community Association 
Beacon Community Association’s Better at Home program offers a mix of volunteer and paid services to people 65+ who are living independently. The program offers a range of services including: 

  • Light housekeeping 
  • More than Meals (three meals that volunteer drivers will deliver) 
  • Other services may also be available as a Volunteer Service, free of charge (including drives to medical appointments, minor home repairs, grocery shopping, friendly visitors or reassurance phone calls). 

Some seniors may qualify for a 100% subsidy. Others may pay fees (charged on a sliding scale, based on your income).

Peninsula Streams 
Peninsula Streams Society restores and protects aquatic ecosystems throughout Greater Victoria through research, restoration, innovative projects, public education and private land stewardship. Restoring salmon stocks through stream restoration and habitat conservation is central to the charity’s purpose. Peninsula Streams also offer environmental education programs in local schools to over a thousand students annually.   In Central Saanich, Peninsula Stream does a variety of monitoring, research, restoration and education.

Log Cabin Museum and Archives
The Saanich Pioneers’ Society is a non-profit charitable society, dedicated to the preservation of the historical records of the Saanich Peninsula. The Log Cabin Museum and Archives are located in Saanichton Green Park.  
The museum is open 1-4pm on Saturdays and the archives are open 9-2 on Mondays.  Website
